Tour equipment and vehicles, the reception counter at the lodge, tables at the cafe, and anything else that gets used is disinfected with alcohol after every use. Acrylic boards have been installed at all counters and the premises are frequently ventilated to prevent droplet transmission. Care is also taken to reduce contact with others, such as asking customers to use their smartphones for payment or check in. By having these businesses put this leaflet up for customers to see, the prefecture hopes to create a safe environment for travelers. This leaflet is accompanied by a QR code as a part of the prefecture’s new LINE Coronavirus Alert System. This system will allow patrons to quickly find out if they’re at risk for the coronavirus, as well as make it easier to follow up on any potential outbreaks. It does this by sending a message through LINE to everyone who has scanned the QR code who had been in the same facility at around the same time as someone else who caught the coronavirus. Kanagawa Prefecture has also released the Handbook for Travelers to Prevent COVID-19 Infection. Inside it, you’ll find cautionary notes as well as tips on etiquette for travelers before and during their Japan trip.
