1. My Cat (Kanagawa)

My Cat is a paradise for cat lovers! If you love cats but can't own one, then staying at this guesthouse is a perfect way to have a sleepover with a friendly, cuddly cat.

Be careful though, because not all of the rooms have a cat in them! There are 6 authentic, Japanese-style guest rooms available, so make sure you pick the right one.

As it's located right on the coast, there are breathtaking views of the sea from almost every room. You'll be treated to this adorable sight of a sleepy cat bathed in the sunlight. What could be better?!

2. Coffee Kazamidori (Fukuoka)

People all over Japan are dying to visit this unique cafe in Fukuoka. There's lots of reasons, with one of them being the amazing tea and sweets that beautifully decorate the cafe's tableware.

However, let's get real. The true reason why everyone wants to come here is because it's super Instagrammable! Housed in a renovated Japanese inn that's over 140 years old, it's the epitome of vintage.

The interior retains the style of the Taisho era (1912 - 1926), and that's clearly visible from the vintage furniture, antique clocks, and old-fashioned ceiling lights.

There's even an old phone by the entrance! You're sure to feel like you've slipped back into the past as soon as you step in. Great good, antique furniture, an abundance of history... a perfect Instagram story!

3. Ashikaga Orihime Shrine (Tochigi)

No, your eyes are not deceiving you. The torii (shrine gate) in the above photo is, indeed, purple! It sure stands out amongst the greenery, doesn't it?

You're probably used to seeing red torii wherever you go in Japan, but this shrine does things a little differently (and colorfully)! Go through the main gate of the shrine and ascend Enmusubi Hill (literally translates to "matchmaking hill") to come across more gates like this.

In total, there are 7 different colored torii. They are all brand spanking new, having been in place only since May 5th of this year. Be the first of your friends and family to capture a photo of these swanky gates!

And that's that! The trends are always quickly changing, so there will always be something new from week to week. Check back in once a week and see if anything catches your eye!
