Yushiyaki no Tatsumi is located in the center of the Funai Goban district in the heart of Oita. Just like its calming exterior amidst a bustling downtown suggests, a soothing mood hangs in the air when you step into the restaurant. We warmly welcome all guests, whether stopping in for a drink after work, or celebrating a special occasion. We serve small plates of creative skewer dishes that build upon traditional Japanese cooking techniques, with uncompromising standards for both ingredients and seasoning. Our signature chicken skin skewers are marinated for three days, with all excess fat removed, and combine a crispy bite with a juicy mouthfeel. To make sure we please our local customers, we use fine quality soy sauce and eggs locally sourced in Oita. So many authentic flavors are offered, including basashi (horse meat) directly delivered from Kumamoto, served with soy sauce also made in Kumamoto.

A plate of five kinds of chicken skewers: gizzard, tsukune (meatloaf), liver, chicken with scallions, and wings. We grill them just right so you can appreciate both the aroma and flavor as you put them in your mouth. Savor the taste of fresh ingredients. You will be fully satisfied with the flavor and consistency of our Daisen chicken, which were raised in a clear, open-air environment with fresh water, so there is no chewy fat. You can savor the juicy flavor as we let it simmer thoroughly while we grill it. Our shop is divided into two floors. Our food is brought out through the counters, making customers think, "Ooh. I want to eat that." I think putting my heart into every dish is the best service I can offer my customers. In the entrance to our shop is a fish tank. Awaodori chicken is a local brand chicken of Tokushima, which features scrumptious lean meat with a sweet, yet rich flavor. Its succulence gives the meat an excellent texture. The chicken is slow-roasted over a charcoal grill, so the flames have time to bring out the deep umami flavor. Not only do we feature premium Awaodori chicken, but we are careful to use only the finest yakitori sauce, ubame oak charcoal and even the water. The recipe for our special tare sauce has been handed down for over 50 years, using only alkali reduced water for the finest flavor. As a brand of chicken, it is said that "Miyazaki-bred chicken" is famous for its defining traits of being low in fat, low in calories, and good for digestion.
