Kuromon Hamato

The more one smiles, the more it brings in fortunes. Enjoy the rich fugu dishes at the venerable restaurant in the Kuromon market.

The red lantern lined along the Kuromon market may capture visitors curiosity. Hamato, known for its fugu dishes is home to many in Osaka. "All of the fugu will lead to fuku (fortune)." As the saying goes, fugu prepared in assorted Tessa (fugu sashimi) and Tecchiri (boiled fugu dish served with ponzu sauce) is anything but Ko-Fuku (mouthful of fortunes). We use top-grade homebred Tora-fugu (tiger puffer) to bring out the umami by leaving it out overnight and assure the top quality dishes. Recommended pre-fixed menus is [Hama], including parboiled fugu, tessa, tecchiri and deep-fried chicken, charging only 5,500 JPY (tax and service charge included). Also the special course meal [Shoka] ideal for business dinners and various single dishes can be enjoyed. You may read a touch of style in the selection of Hirezake (hot sake with grilled fin) and Kotsuzake (char bone flavor sake). Indulge in the savory fugu dishes to your heart's content.

Kuromon Kuragin is a place to enjoy fresh seafood from the Kuromon Market. It offers reasonably priced fresh seafood dishes such as nigirizushi (hand-rolled sushi) and Kaisendon (seafood rice bowl). A recommended menu item is the "Two Kinds of Tuna Bowl," which features toro (fatty tuna) and kami (lean tuna), the freshest raw tuna. The "Salmon Ikura (Salmon Roe) Bowl" using thick Atlantic salmon and Hokkaido ikura is also popular. Take-out is available from 11:00 am. A wide variety of alcoholic beverages are served, and premium sake is especially recommended. The restaurant has 38 table seats and can accommodate groups. Of course, you can enjoy a delicious time alone as well. It is located in the Namba area (Nippombashi), the center area of Osaka, and is convenient for sightseeing. The Grilled Japanese Mackerel Herb Croute and Bacon Cromesquis with Green Pea Declinaison is an original dish that pairs in-season Japanese mackerel with the traditional French garnish dish “Petits Pois a la Francaise.” Our chef travels all around and handpicks tomatoes and other vegetables that are high in vitamins and other nutrients. The food here is based on the idea that health and beauty starts from inside the body, and that’s something that we want guests to experience when they eat here.
