Sumiyaki Unafuji Daimaru Kyoto Bettei

Kawaramachi/Kiyamachi/Pontocho (Downtown Kyoto), Kyoto

The extra-large, crispy, and fluffy blue eel and sauce are superb. Enjoy the taste of Nagoya's popular restaurant at Daimaru Kyoto.

"We want guests to fill up on delicious eels." With this concept as the basis, Charcoal Grilled Eel Fuji, established in Nagoya in 1995, is a restaurant that attracts guests with impressive taste. In 2023, this famous restaurant opened on the 8th floor of the Daimaru Kyoto Store on Shijo Dori in Kyoto. Being the first branch in western Japan, it is crowded every day with people smiling and enjoying the delicious eels. Only the largest of the best blue eels are selected, opened from the belly in the Kansai style, and grilled over a charcoal fire. The surface is crispy, and the meat is plump and juicy, and when combined with a secret sauce, it has a superb taste. An abundant menu, including the famous "Eel Bowl" and authentic "Hitsumabushi," is also a great part of the restaurant. The Michelin star and selected as one of the 100 best restaurants on the Tabelog Guide site are also proof of its excellence. It is a wonderful place for locals as well as traveling gourmets.

Aji Fukushima

Kawaramachi/Kiyamachi/Pontocho (Downtown Kyoto), Kyoto

Perfection in Japanese cuisine in the Gion district of Kyoto.

Egg yolk mixed with sea urchin and dried seaweed, squid, warabi (bracken), minnows that have been steamed before being fried-with ingredients such as these, the Japanese dishes really demonstrate the skills of the chef. We insist upon beautifully presented food that represents the changing seasons. At our restaurant, we use a tuna base dashi (soup stock) rather than one made from dried skipjack. This stock gives the food a refined and delicate flavor. That is the fundamental basis of our cooking. Gion is a place with lots of tourists and customers from overseas, so we really emphasize the Kyoto atmosphere of our restaurant. We hope that you can enjoy the culture of Kyoto through both the flavor of our food and the restaurant itself. We recommend siting at the counter, but we also have Japanese style private rooms infused with the aroma of the traditional tatami mats.

Kawaramachi/Kiyamachi/Pontocho (Downtown Kyoto), Kyoto

Unmatched hospitality. Kyoto's only luxury restaurant. 12 months of bliss in which to savor the seasons.

"DODICI" means "12" in Italian. With 30 years of experience in the culinary field, the skilled chef cooks for "12 months" of the year using a host of seasonal ingredients. A beautiful tree grows at the entrance as if it were a boundary between the city's bustle and the restaurant's interior. You will begin to enjoy an extraordinary time the moment you open the door. The dishes, from appetizers to sweets, are all delicacies to enjoy with all senses. Food can be paired with wines selected by the manager, a certified sommelier in Japan and Italy, or tea-based cocktails. You will surely be fascinated by the profound taste that spreads from one plate to many layers! If you want to create a memorable experience with someone special... Kawaramachi/Kiyamachi/Pontocho (Downtown Kyoto), Kyoto

Make things from scratch and you can create your own unique flavor.

This dish, like all our cooking, is made from scratch and possesses its own unique flavor. Even with "so," a traditional Japanese dairy product, I insist upon freshness. The color is something that is completely different from processed food products, and the flavor is unlike anything else. Our homemade-style dried mullet roe is made without removing too much moisture, ensuring its soft texture. If the customer wants, we can slice and serve it with alcohol, but we recommend its soft texture as ideal with steamed rice. Since moving to this location, we haven't had a fixed closing time. We want customers to relax while they are here. After the meal we serve a sweet dish and a cup of houji tea (roasted green tea). Enjoy tea made in a kettle of clear well water. Just one cup serves to relax both mind and body.

Fukuyoshi

Kawaramachi/Kiyamachi/Pontocho (Downtown Kyoto), Kyoto

A la carte dishes and sushi made from the freshest seafood. Indulge yourself with delicacies in a 120-year-old traditional Kyoto townhouse.

The new [Fukuyoshi] restaurant was opened with much anticipation in November 2019. The sushi and a la carte dishes are made even more delicious with fresh seafood and seasonal ingredients. The fish is sourced from Tokyo as well as the Kansai area and Hokkaido and Nagasaki prefectures. The chef has ensured exceptional rice is used, having traveled to where it is produced himself, observing the process right up until harvest. Aside from these high-quality ingredients, the wide range of alcohol, which includes wine and sake, allows you to be able to enjoy a drink menu that changes with the seasons. The renovated interior of the 120-year-old traditional Kyoto townhouse has an elegant Japanese ambience. Two seating types are available to suit customers' needs: counter seats where one can enjoy the food being prepared right before them, and private Japanese tatami rooms with a special and inviting atmosphere. This restaurant is perfect for not only occasions like dates and anniversaries, but also for business dinne

Kyo no Korean Home-style Restaurant Hamke

Kawaramachi/Kiyamachi/Pontocho (Downtown Kyoto), Kyoto

Enjoy Korean cuisine with ease

We carefully prepare a young chicken and simmer it for two hours, add Hambe wheat gluten and Kujo green onion (both unique to Kyoto), and combine it all with soy milk for a creamy finish. Kawaramachi/Kiyamachi/Pontocho (Downtown Kyoto), Kyoto

Through careful cooking, we bring out the original flavors of our ingredients with culinary delights. Enjoy a relaxing meal in mature atmosphere!

By continuing to make things every day, we invent new ways of doing things, perhaps by adding something extra or maybe by taking something away. In this way, even if the same dish has been on the menu for five years, the flavor may be different. We are always aware of different trends and continue to evolve the flavors that we are so proud of. Give them a try. We have a deep preference for freshness, and fresh fish caught in Wakasa each morning are delivered directly to our restaurant. Through the careful use of our cooking skills, we bring out the original flavors of the ingredients to provide our customers with culinary delights. The food we produce is of course delicious, but we want customers to enjoy themselves even further which is why we always work to make a comfortable space and serve our customers in an unobtrusive fashion.
