Nagoya, Aichi

Enjoy quality time in a relaxing space to savor the grilled giant eel cooked by skillful chefs with glossy sauce.

The eel is grilled by expert chefs having technique and passion for 40 years. At Una Izumi, only the best quality giant eels are served. Its sauce is a special blend of pure soy sauce and traditional tamari soy sauce. The mellow flavor of the sauce is enhanced by carefully resting the house-made mirin (sweet sake) and coarse sugar. This extra work enriches the eel's unique taste and gives it a deep richness and mellow aroma. The special rice is delivered from contract farmers, and only the necessary amount is milled each time. Its sweetness makes the flavor of the eel more richly spread out. Come with your family, friends, or colleagues to savor the blissful eels in a relaxed atmosphere.

Honmachi Saryo

Nagoya, Aichi

An old-style tea house with classic Japanese charm and a photo-worthy menu.

This tea house makes use of a 100-year-old kominka (old Japanese house) that's registered as a cultural property and has the perfect atmosphere to match the small castle town of Inuyama. Sitting in the Japanese modern tea house, guests will feel like they've slipped back in time as they enjoy Inuyama's famous dengaku (grilled miso skewers), as well as sweets such as zenzai (sweet red bean paste) and shaved ice (summer-only). The food is not only delicious but also visually appealing, with a cute appearance that makes one feel happy just to look at it. Apparently, there are even some customers who travel from far away just to take pictures for their social media accounts. The owner, Mr. Kuze's efforts to boost the local economy extends to the tea house's use of local specialty products, including tea from Inuyama and locally-made pottery. This is a cozy spot loved by both travelers and locals alike.
