Overview of 2024 Restrictions

In 2024, several entry restrictions were imposed on the Yoshida Trail on the Yamanashi side of Mt. Fuji. Physical gates were installed at the fifth station, and only 4,000 people were allowed through each day. A mandatory hiking fee of 2,000 yen/person was also implemented.

Updated Restrictions for 2025

Starting in 2025, gates will be installed at the fifth station entrances of all four Mt. Fuji hiking trails. A mandatory hiking fee of 4,000 yen per person will be required—twice the amount charged in 2024 for the Yoshida Trail.

In addition, hikers using any trail other than the Yoshida Trail must complete a mandatory course on Mt. Fuji climbing rules. This can be done online with prior registration via the official website or in person after paying the hiking fee. To proceed with the climb, you must pass a quiz by answering all questions correctly.

General Questions

Is Advance Registration Necessary?

Advance registration is not required, but it’s strongly recommended—especially for those hiking the three trails on the Shizuoka Prefecture side—to help speed up the entry process.

To register in advance, you'll need to download the Shizuoka Prefecture FUJI NAVI app, available on both Google Play and the App Store. This app generates a QR code that you'll need to show at the entry gates to the staff.

Advance registration opens on May 9, 2025. You can sign up using the links below:
Yoshida Trail (Yamanashi Prefecture)
Fujinomiya, Gotemba, and Subashiri Trails (Shizuoka Prefecture)

*If the Google Play and App Store links above aren't working, we suggest trying to download the app via the QR codes shown on the advance registration pages.

Are There Daily Hiker Limits on the Shizuoka Trails?

No, there are currently no daily limits for the Shizuoka-side hiking trails. The 4,000-person daily cap remains in place exclusively for the Yoshida Trail.

Is a Mountain Hut Reservation Required?

Yes—if you plan to enter through the fifth station gates after 2 PM on any of the four Mt. Fuji trails, you must have an overnight reservation at a mountain hut. This will be verified at the gate before entry is allowed.
