1. Nakameguro Yamaya *Closed

The chef at this authentic Japanese Izakaya is very particular about the ingredients that arrive at his kitchen. That probably explains why the seafood dishes here are simply divine. The best part about this place is that even though it is a popular Izakaya in one of the world's most expensive megacities, their lunch meals are priced at JPY 999! Their fish lunch meal comes with a yummy serving of raw tuna. If you are making your way here, we recommend their charcoal-grilled fish! Don't worry about not knowing how to order what you want here because their staff speaks English.

3. Tonkatsu Ponta *Closed

Don't let its exterior fool you. It may look like any neighborhood Japanese restaurant that serves mediocre set meals but this famous place is known for its juicy pork cutlets that are cooked to perfection at low temperatures. Their pork cutlets here are priced at JPY 2800, which is pretty high but a bite into one of their cutlets and you'll come to agree that this price is actually a steal. Tender and juicy, you'll fall in love with the pork cutlets here.

For a quick fix of French food, you'll have to rush to this quaint French deli. At lunch their platter is set at JPY 1500 and you get to pick the dishes you want to eat. You can also opt to take out their sandwiches during a fine day and have a picnic in a nearby park. 

5. Gohanya Isshin

Isshin puts a lot of care in the dishes that come out from their kitchen. Come to enjoy their yummy food that is served along with rice that is steamed in a claypot. Their lunch set of the day features a yummy pork stew that shouldn't missed but it's a first come first serve thing. So if they run of that pork stew, you might want to come back another day for it! Their meals start from JPY 1000 and they come with a bowl of miso soup, pickles and 2 small servings of appetizer.  If you came with a big appetite, you would be happy to know that you can you can refill your rice bowl as many times as you want for free! Still have room in your tummy? For a small price, you can add a dessert to your meal.

6. Hacienda del cielo

Looking for a Mexican restaurant around the area? Look no more! Haciendo el cielo serves really yummy authentic tacos and fajitas. They have many varieties to choose from and they are all reasonably priced around JPY 1000. Their lunch sets comes with a complimentary drink. Oh, and during lunch you can ask for more tortillas to fill your tummy for free! On a fine day, order your lunch and sit at their terrace seats that provides a great view of Daikanyama.

For healthier vegan options in Tokyo, this is the place to head to. During lunch, get their dish-of-the-day as your main, add 2 side dishes from the deli and get a salad and a bowl of brown rice for JPY 1050. 8. XEX Daikanyama *Closed

For beautiful sushi pieces made with care and grilled dishes, you must make your way here. Their fresh seafood is directly brought in from Tsukiji's fish market and their lunch sets feature fresh fish, meat patties, fresh tuna rice bowls or a platter of yummy sashimi and they are priced from JPY 1000 onwards. It's very reasonable for the quality that they have to offer. You can refill your rice bowl as many times as you want and their meals come with a complimentary drink. It's an unbeatable bargain!

9. Haisai Kitchen

This fusion restaurant offers dishes that combine Okinawan, French and Italian culinary inspiration. Their lunch meals start from JPY 1000 and you could get a serving of lamb with a bowl of Okinawa noodles! This restaurant is kid-friendly and there is enough space to park your prams.
