What Is DAISO?

DAISO is a chain of 100-yen stores where almost all products are available for 100 JPY. It has an overwhelming selection of goods, ranging from stationery, tools, food and cooking utensils to sewing tools, DIY goods, convenience items and party goods. It is the perfect place to purchase items to use while traveling, as well as gifts to take home, so be sure to drop in while you\'re in Japan. Here, we introduce some convenience items that are especially popular from among the countless selection available.

1. Watch

This is an amazingly good quality watch for 100 JPY. It tells the time as well as the date, so why not purchase one for using in Japan so that you don\'t have to change the time zone on your watch. Keep in mind, though, that it is not waterproof.

2. Easy Sealer

This is a tool that uses heat to seal plastic, such as bags of unfinished snacks. Use it to keep leftover potato chips and cookies fresh. All you need to do is to slide it over the open end of the bag, so it is easy to use. It requires two AAA batteries, sold separately.

3. Lint Removing Roller

Use this to quickly and easily make knitwear look new. All you need to do is turn it on, slide it over the knitwear, and it will remove any lint in its path. This is one item you\'ll want to have around. It also requires two AAA batteries, which are sold separately.

4. Mini Light

You can even get a flashlight for just 100 JPY. It\'s small but has a powerful LED light. It comes with a battery, but it is just for testing so it\'s best to change it once you\'ve confirmed that it works. Make sure you wear gloves when changing the battery.

5. Flour Storage/Sifter

This is a kitchen item that is convenient for lightly adding a dusting of flour and other such things when cooking. The inside cap is mesh so it\'s easy to sprinkle just the right amount. You can also use it to sprinkle cocoa or powdered sugar on cakes instead of using a sieve each time. It comes with an outer cap, so you can store it as it is.

6. Knitting Spool

This is a handy tool to make tubular knits. You can use thick yarn or T-shirt yarn (yarn used by thinly cutting T-shirts) on it. You can make arm warmers as shown on the package, as well as water bottle covers, small cases and anything else you can think of.

7. Adult Coloring

Adult coloring books are popular in Japan as a way to stimulate the brain. The adult coloring packs at DAISO come with a top half that has been colored in as samples. They are set up so that you can separate the top half from the half you color in, and use them as postcards. You can send them to that special someone, or frame them. The photographed product is of a series of beautiful scenes in Japan.

8. Jar Pouches

These are stand-up pouches that are designed to look like actual jars. They have flat bottoms so they stand up when filled. You can use them as gift wrap for sweets and other items. They are also stylish and handy for storing food in the refrigerator.

9. Japanese Sticky Notes

Sticky notes come in handy at work and school, and there are a variety of different designs available now. The sticky notes photographed have designs based on Japanese culture, such as sumo wrestling and ninja. They are sure to catch people\'s attention, and are perfect as gifts to take home.

10. Wet Head Cotton Buds

These are cotton buds made with 100% cotton moistened with purified water. It is rare to find cotton buds that are moistened. These are individually packaged so they are convenient for taking on the road.

These items can all be purchased for 100 JPY (excl. tax). DAISO, where you can find such a wide selection of items for 100 JPY, is almost like a theme park. Have fun shopping for these handy items.
