Minato Mirai (official name: Yokohama Minato Mirai 21) is a popular district that is located in Yokohama’s bay area where guests can enjoy sightseeing and shopping at the same time. Here are five of the most recommended shopping facilities in Minato Mirai.

1. Yokohama Landmark Tower

As its name suggests, the Yokohama Landmark Tower is an iconic symbol of Minato Mirai. Inside Landmark Plaza, the shopping mall inside this facility, you will find various shops, from the shops of Japanese fashion brands up to the outlets of famous global brands. It is also home to the Pokemon Center shop that carries items associated with Pokemon, as well as the JUMP SHOP where you can buy various merchandise related to famous manga series such as ONE PIECE and NARUTO, so adults and children will surely enjoy here.

2. Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse

Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse is characterized by its buildings that are made of red bricks with historic value. A complex commercial facility comprised of two buildings, it is a place where guests can enjoy shopping, as well as appreciate works of art and take part in various events. If you are looking to buy souvenirs, then the No.1 Building is where you should go. It houses a long list of shops, from stores where you can buy Yokohama Castella (sponge cake) (1,296 JPY) whose shape is inspired by a red brick, and the local Yokohama Ale (648 JPY), up to shops that specialize in plastic food models that are famous among visiting tourists. Meanwhile, the No.2 Building also has shops related to fashion, cosmetics, general merchandise and other goods.

3. MARK IS Minato Mirai

MARK IS Minato Mirai, which is directly linked to the train station, is a shopping mall that is lined with shops covering a wide range of genres, including consumer electronics, fashion and sporting goods. Inside, the must-see shop is the Kamawanu, a spot dedicated to tenugui (a piece of dyed cotton cloth similar to a hand towel) with different designs that are unique to Japan. This shop also sells Japanese crafts that use tenugui. At the food hall called Mainichi Marche at the Basement 1 floor, you will find shops carrying Western and Japanese sweets that were born in Yokohama, where you can purchase famous sweets and pastries as souvenir to bring home with you.

4. Queen’s Square Yokohama

Queen’s Square Yokohama, a large-scale commercial complex in a skyscraper, is also a famous shopping spot that is directly connected to the train station. While it mainly houses shops related to famous fashion labels, it also features shops that sell cosmetics, interior goods and miscellaneous daily articles, among other products. Sanrio Vivitix is the only duty-free shop of Sanrio, which is famous for Hello Kitty, in Kanagawa. You can also buy items that are only available in Yokohoma here.

5. Yokohama World Porters

Yokohama World Porters, which was built under the concept of “different worlds in this place,” is the largest commercial facility in Minato Mirai. Here, you can enjoy various things, including shopping, dining and watching movies. This facility has more than 200 shops inside! The shops offer various items, including fashion articles, interior goods, household appliances, sporting goods and Yokohama souvenirs, so you can shop to your heart’s content here.
