1. Isomaru Suisan at Asakusa's Shin Nakamise Shopping Street

We bet you can't wait to sink your teeth into the dish shown in the picture above! Well, this Nishokudon uses fresh bigeye tuna and white tuna and you can get this scrumptious bowl for only ¥583 during lunch time! It's an unbeatable deal to be able to have fresh delicious tuna dons at such a price.  Their lunch menu also includes Negitorodon which serves diners with a generous amount of fatty tuna slices and Welsh onions and the simple yet mouthwatering Magurodon. Both rice bowl dishes are also sold at ¥583.

2. Kohiya Kororo

At ¥530 you can fill your belly up with their pizza toast dish. Toasted bread is topped with generous ingredients and cheese! A bite of this pizza toast would bring a party to your mouth. It is extremely yummy. Italy may have helped made the world a better place for creating pizzas but we would like to believe that Japan made it a tad more colorful with our pizza toasts. We definitely recommend you to make a stop here for some pizza toast.

3. Fukuchan

For some authentic yakisoba from the past, at a price below ¥500, this is where you would have to go to. It's located at the underground shopping area near Asakusa station. Just like its yakisoba, the interior and exterior of the store brings you back to the good old days and you may probably notice that the store doesn't have a proper door for its entrance! Besides yakisoba, they also serve local favorites like ramen and Japanese curry dishes. For visitors who are on a tight budget, you should definitely come here for lunch!

4. Kissa Peter

Here, you can get a plate of yummy Japanese curry rice at only ¥600! The gravy is rich and fragrant and they've included generous servings of meat and vegetables. The interior of the restaurant is cozy and this place is well-loved by the locals here as the curry dishes served here are simply delicious! You mustn't miss out on this rich Japanese curry rice.

5. Tokiwa Shokudo *CLOSED

This public cafeteria serves yummy Japanese dishes at a really good deal. Another great thing about this cafeteria is that, the menu here doesn't have a single fixed Japanese set meal. Come here and choose one side dish from the wide variety of side dishes and have it with a bowl of steamed rice and a bowl of miso soup for only less than ¥600! Pay for what you only want to eat!

6. Gyumeshi Fukuchan

This famous restaurant has been around for more than 40 years and the locals here just love coming here to eat. Their most popular dish would have to be their gyumeshi, which is a bowl of rice topped with yummy beef stew and it is only at ¥600! The beef is stewed for a long time and so when you take a bite of it, be ready for tender beef that is soaking in flavorful gravy. The recipe for their gravy hasn't changed at all and even the slightest lick of it would kick start your appetite for more. They also serve a gyumeshinabe, beef hot pot too.

7. Royal Coffee

8. Chinese Dining Iida

Here in Japan, twice cook pork dish is called Hoikoro and here at this Chinese restaurant, their Hoikorodon features sliced cabbage with pork slices sautéed with a sweet and spicy sauce and it is available at ¥500! Enjoy the crispness of the cabbage and the aroma from the tender pork slices. This restaurant also provides free coffee during lunch time.   。

9. Okinasoba

Their famous curry soba is only at ¥600 and they do not skimp on their curry serving. The curry is rich and tasty that you'll be slurping those thick soba noodles away but do be careful, the curry broth can be quite hot in taste and temperature. Unless you don't mind, try not to wear white on the day you plan to come here to eat because all the slurping might splatter some of the gravy onto your top. You can also ask the staff to separate the noodles from the gravy if you can't take spicy food.

10. Gyozakaikan

If you haven't already known, Utsunomiya is famous for their potstickers or as they call them in Japan, Gyoza. Here in this restaurant in Asakusa, you'll get to taste yummy Utsunomiya gyozas for only ¥600! Their gyoza set meal comes with gyozas, naturally, rice, miso soup, grated white radish, pickles and chilled tofu. This set meal here would make any big eater happy and full! Their potstickers are juicy and filled generously with yummy meat stuffing.

11. Onigiri Asakusa Yadoroku

How could we leave out onigiris from a food list. Here in Asakusa, you must head to this famous store for some delicious rice balls. This store has been around since 1954 and they use high-quality ingredients in their onigiris. There are more than 10 types of onigiris available here and the prices here start from ¥270. Come here to grab a few onigiris and you can enjoy them outdoors at the park on a fine day.
