Sobadokoro Shojiya Gotenzeki Nanokamachi branch is located in Nanokamachi Gotenzeki or Terrace of fresh water, popular new spot in Yamagata. The restaurant has been run by one of Yamagata's most venerable soba restaurant in Saiwai-cho since the Edo Period. Visitors today can enjoy the taste steeped in history. Modern, comfortable interior space makes the lunch hour menu on weekdays and the [Banshaku set] on evenings more impressive. Wide selection of local sake from Yamagata and tasty seasonal side dishes are also available. Guests preferring a standard dining at soba noodle shop may take some time in tasting sake and dishes before closing with a soba dish. SHOJIYA Yamagata Main branch

This old-established soba (buckwheat noodles) restaurant in Yamagata hands down the essence of soba making, with its traditional techniques and taste. 

We are the oldest soba (buckwheat noodles) restaurant in Yamagata, established in the end of the Edo period. You can feel 150 years of history inside the restaurant. The table seats around the fireplace and spacious Japanese rooms have a relaxing atmosphere. Our soba uses only domestic buckwheat flour from Yamagata. We grind buckwheat only with the necessary amount for that day with a stone mill, and create hand-made soba noodles in the restaurant, sticking to the tastiest soba [just-ground], [just-kneaded], and [just-boiled]. With the soup and broth containing neither preservatives nor coloring, you can enjoy the original taste and aroma of soba. Also, enjoy carefully-selected sake (Japanese alcohol) from Yamagata, and side dishes such as tempura and Japanese rolled omelet, and [Soba Kaiseki (a course with soba and traditional Japanese dishes)] made with seasonal local ingredients from Yamagata.

Although Yamagata is mostly known for ramen with thick broth, Alma Crystal Shoyu Charsiu is a light shoyu ramen made from a clear chicken broth. Our charsiu and menma are all handmade using only domestic grown ingredients. We use almost no chemical seasonings and no additives. We created this light yet flavorful chicken broth ramen highlighting the natural flavors of the original ingredients, and it's one of our most recommended dishes! We pride ourselves on maintaining a pristine dining area and kitchen. Customers of all genders and ages will enjoy dining in our comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. Inspired by this, and after 10 years of searching for the right Honmaguro tuna, our chef finally came up with his signature "Honmaguro Sushi." We use not only traditional vegetables like Akane spinach, Zaou pumpkin, Okanodai burdock, Akudo-taro, Chrysanthemum, and Okahijiki, but we also heavily rely on ingredients from Yamagata, which include Shonai seafood and Yamagata-gyu beef. Enjoy tasty beef chosen by the professional, with an excellent eye and 40 years of experience, at KAZU -YAMAGATA BEEF BAR-. We stick to using the ingredients from Yamagata prefecture, such as Yamagata beef and specially-grown rice [Tsuyahime] that is carefully grown with a reduced amount of agricultural chemicals. Our popular regular menu is [Yakisuki] where high-quality shoulder loin is served with raw egg and original sweet dipping sauce. We recommend you to lightly grill these proud carefully-selected beef on a ceramic plate, so that the savory taste of the meat will spread in your mouth. We also offer a wide variety of drink including local wine, sake, and shochu (Japanese alcohol). We have a nostalgic and relaxing atmosphere using furniture made with old wood from an old house.
