Born in 1958, Senju Hiroshi is one of the leading Japanese painters. He preferably uses traditional Japanese painting techniques. For example, using pigments derived from natural materials and applying them to a specially designed mulberry paper.

He graduated from the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music in 1982. In 1987 he finished the Ph.D program at the Graduate School of Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music.

In order to advocate Japanese painting and its skills to the world, he is actively involved in various activities such as lectures and writings. His signature works titled “Water Falls” earned Honorable Mention at 46th La Biennale di Venezia, Italy in 1994.
