The sky

The sky in Okinawa is so blue and beautiful when it’s fine. People talk about the weather often and say “It’s a beautiful day, isn’t it?” when they meet, unlike other places in Japan where they don’t talk about the beauty of the weather that much. Japanese people do talk about the weather, but most of the time, they only say “It’s hot” or “It’s cold”, and sometimes they just worry too much about typhoons and heavy snow falls. Okinawa people love the beauty of the weather in Okinawa and they are happy when it shines. They really love the color of the sky there.
They also don’t really have a negative feeling toward typhoons. Okinawa has the heaviest typhoons in Japan and they have a lot of typhoons every year, but they don’t dislike it. Pretty interesting, isn’t it?

Bingata is an Okinawan traditional kimono which is made with dyed cloth(nowadays they also have printed bingata and of course it’s cheaper).
It is generally brightly colored and features various patterns, usually depicting natural subjects such as fish, water, and flowers.
Many women become fans of it when they see it since the colors and the patterns are so beautiful.
Even if you don’t have a chance to wear bingata kimono, they also have bingata T-shirts, bags and handkerchiefs, so you can still get bingata items!
