Japan is a firework nation; if there’s a reason to set off fireworks, people will find it! This is especially true in Yokohama, one of Japan’s major harbors, where Chinese New Year, port opening anniversaries, and various other events compete for attention. There’s even an International Fireworks Festival held there annually. In this fine photo compilation, I hope to show you just what you’re missing if you don’t make the trip someday!

The harbor looks like a charming toyland here

This could be a UFO coming in for a landing…or maybe just a pretty display?

I’m seeing red right now

The Ferris wheel kind of looks like part of the show!

Between day and night…fantastic!

If you ever do get the chance to see Yokohama’s fireworks, I’m sure you’ll feel just like this girl did! Just remember to take friends, and bring a mat in case you find yourself sitting on the ground. If you can make a reservation at a windowed restaurant or even book a short harbor cruise during the various shows, so much the better–you’ll have a front-row seat. Whatever the case, bring your camera and capture the moment forever!
