What’s cosplay?

Japanese cosplay is that people dress up as video game characters, anime game characters, idols, Lolita and gothic fashions.

Japanese Manga(comics) and Japanese Anime(cartoons) together with the accompanying it music, also its derivative called cosplay (costume play culture based on anime, video games and other popular characters) have gained enormous popularity and an army of passionate fans and followers.

People who love to dress up

People who wear any of the Anime or Manga gear are called cosplayers. They can be found almost anywhere in Japan because the main drive of this fashion are Japan’s youths. Cosplayers also have their hangouts where you see them in numbers like Akihabara and Harajuku districts in Tokyo. One can get lost in cosplay world as there a lot of cosplay cafes where you find the waitresses serving in costume. There are also costume parties which are held in some night clubs as well as parks in Japan.

Even non-Japanese people are cosplayers. It’s getting really popular around the globe.

Cosplayers can be found at your favourite conventions such as Animazment, Comiket, and many others.You can get items of cosplay at the conventions as well.

Maid Cafe

If you want to meet with cosplayers, visit maid cafe which can be found predominantly in Japan. In these cafes, waitresses dressed in maid costumes act as servants, and treat customers as masters (and mistresses) in a private home, rather than as cafe patrons.

Most of the maid cafe are in Akihabara, Tokyo.

As cosplay are getting popular, maid cafes are in overseas. Visit and enjoy cosplaying!
