1. Mitsuno (美津の)

Mitsuno is located 3 minutes from Ebisu bridge in Doutonbori which is in the downtown of Osaka city. It is famous as a delicious okonomiyaki restaurant which locals also love. The two story its building is always full with customers and further more there is a line up outside the restaurant a lot of the time. The most popular menu: Mitsuno-Yaki, is made with mince and the texture is soft which makes you want to eat more. There is always a line up during a lunch and dinner times, so expect to wait some time before entering the restaurant. The prices are reasonable and the sizes are big.

2. Fukutaro(福太郎)

Fukutaro is a famous okonomiyaki restaurant located near the Nanba Grand Kagetsu theater. Inside the restaurant is a channel shaped counter. The most popular menu item is buta-dama which is made with sweet vegetables and pork. You can put as much mayo and green laver on top of the okonomiaki when you eat it. It also sells negiyaki which is made with green onion instead of cabbage, and teppanyaki which is grilled on an iron plate.

3. Yukari Sonezaki-Hon-Ten(ゆかり 曾根崎本店)

Yukari Sonezaki-Hon-Ten is a famous okonomiyaki restaurant which was established in 1953. What makes this restaurant special is they use selected ingredients such as house blend flour, brand eggs, original source. The famous Yukari-yaki is cooked with shrimps, scallops, squid, pork loin and konjac which is made from the starch of the devil’s-tongue plant and has a jelly-like consistency. It’s delicious and made us want to eat it again. This long-established restaurant will not make you disappointed.

4. Vin-ju-tei(Vin樹亭)

Vin-ju-tei is famous as a restaurant as it has a Sommelier. Surprisingly, you will eat okonomiyaki with wine in here. You can try new types of delicious okonomiyaki which you eat with cheese fondue like cheese sauce. It is good with wine and also stylish. If you want to try something different than ordinary okonomiyaki, you should come here.

5. Hirokazuya Higashidori branch (ひろかずや 東通り店)

Hirokazuya’s special characteristic is its rich, thick sauce. It has a standard menu containing buta-dama: pork okonomiyaki, Guy-dama: beef okonomiyaki, Ika-dama: squid okonomiyaki and Ebi-dama: shrimp okonomiyaki. Besides okonomiyaki, they also have negiyaki, Yakiudon: stir-fried udon noodles, and Yakisoba: stir-fried udon noodles. Inside the restaurant is a channel shape counter, so you can eat hot okonomiyaki right off of an iron plate in front of you. It is also famous that it is open until the next morning.

6.  Kiji(きじ)

Kiji is popular because its buta-tama has a crunchy texture. It serves delicious okonomiyaki at reasonable prices, so there is a line up around the meal time every day. You can enjoy excellent okonomiyaki which uses Japanese basil in its retro atmosphere. The size of okonomiyaki is big, so you will be satisfied.

7. Omoni (オモニ)

The defining feature at Omoni is you chose an okonomiyaki base, such as buta-dama first, then you add toppings like fibrous meat, squid and green onion. There are so many toppings to chose from, so to make ordering easier for you, there are also many you can just order by the name of the okonomiyaki on the menu. You can put sauce on your okonomiyaki by yourself, so you truly can make your okonomiyaki the way you want. Eat this delicious okonomiyaki in nice and old atmosphere.

8. Dontaku(どんたく)

Dontaku is long-established restaurant and it is open until early in the morning. A lot of celebrities come here. It is famous for Tonpeiyaki: wrapped grilled pork loin with eggs like an omelet. It also has many items on the menu you can enjoy. The proprietress of this restaurant is very unique. There are self-service features also.
