1. Fukamachi [Kyobashi] 

This restaurant was opened by a man who had training in a famous tempura restaurant for 34 years. Its specialty is sea urchin tempura wrapped in a shiso leaf. The inside is creamy and outside is crispy. Rich flavor of sea urchin is in exquisite harmony with shiso leaf. It is fairly expensive, but you can enjoy various tempura dishes cooked very carefully.

2. Tempura Shinjuku Tsunahachi [Shinjuku]

It is a restaurant opened in 1924, with a long tradition. It is especially crowded during lunch time because the full-fledged tempura is served at a reasonable price. Tendon, a bowl of rice topped with several kinds of tempura and special sauce is recommended for lunch. It has a sister restaurant in an area other than Shinjuku, which is convenient.

3. Tenmo [Nihonbashi] 

This restaurant was founded in 1885, and went through the Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923 and several wars. After that, it was rebuilt in 1947, and this premise has been used since then. Inside of the restaurant still remains the nostalgic and good old Japanese scene. The tempura is made from seasonal ingredients, which were fried carefully, with light taste. You will visit this restaurant to eat this many times.

4. Tempura Yamanoue Roppongi [Roppongi]

This restaurant is a branch of a well-established tempura restaurant "Yamanoue Hotel." They use ingredients purchased on the day, and fry them in plain sesame oil. So you can eat delicate tempura. You can view a wonderful scenery over the counter. You can enjoy seasonal landscape during daytime, and night view at night. It is open all day on Saturdays and Sundays, so you can eat tempura without worrying about the time.

5. Tensuke [Koenji] 

This is a popular restaurant which has always a long queue of waiting people. Its specialty is egg tempura. Wrapped in a crispy coating, soft-boiled egg is so creamy. During lunch time, hearty tendon(tempura rice bowl) is served at around 1,300 yen. This is perfect for tourists with little travel expense. The staffs are also friendly.

6.Dote no Iseya [Minowa]

This is a restaurant famous for hearty tendon(tempura rice bowl). The current owner is a fourth generation, the secret sauce is rather strong and tasty, keeping its original taste from its establishment by adding sauce. They put high importance with the freshness of ingredients. Especially, conger eel is seasoned in the morning of the day, which is soft without any strong smell.
