1. A signature hairstyle
If you know anything about Perfume, you’ll know that these girls haven’t changed their hairstyles since…well, since debut.
Nocchi has her short hair, Kashiyuka has her blunt bangs, and Acchan has her soft waves and bangs. While having the same hairstyle for years and years can get annoying, having “your” hairstyle can be fun for a few months!
2. Bold shapes and details
Perfume’s performance outfits might not be as crazy as Kyary Pamyu Pamyu’s, but they make use of detail and interesting shapes. Don’t be afraid to go a little further than you’re used to – experiment with 3-D, hidden colors, lace, peek-a-boo details, different silhouettes, anything you want!
3. Color, color, color
Perfume’s outfits always do a good job of incorporating different color patterns and variations. Don’t worry about matching colors and “safe” color combinations (though maybe stay away from red and green unless it’s Christmas). Don’t limit yourself to colorblocking, either. You can use color in any way, and the more color, the better.
4. Illusionary patterns galore
Perhaps the best thing about Perfume’s outfits are the illusions they make, usually from geometric patterns and use of color. From the bottom image, the hued triangles falling over each other on a white background makes it look like the dresses are made of rainbow glass shards.
5. Clear shoe straps
Not only are these a must for Perfume, they’re necessary for anyone who dances in heels. These shoe straps are clear bands that go around any shoe and are virtually invisible (at least from far away), and they do a good job of keeping your shoe from falling off while you’re vigorously moving. Perfume wears these every time they have a performance, and it’s easy to see why.
