1. Baton D'Or [Glico]

Baton D'Or is a high-class version of that snack made by the Japanese company Glico that is popular around the world, Pocky. A specialty stand that only sells Baton D'Or is in Umeda. There are a wide variety of flavors, including bsugar butter, milk, almond, strawberry, and more. The package is also made to look high-class, making it a wonderful souvenir. It's so popular that it often has a line of people waiting to get this rare product.

2. Kakitane (Kakitane Kitchen) 

Kakitane Kitchen specializes in selling Kaki no Tane, a Japanese snack that's popular even in the West thanks to its orange color and its spiciness. They have variations on flavor, including potato butter and maple sugar, so it's perfect for a souvenir. This store is directly managed by the okaki specialty store Toyosu.

3. Takaradukushi Monaka [Namiyoshian]

Monaka is a Japanese snack where a cracker that is similar to a wafer is stuffed with red bean paste. You can make your own saichuu by filling it with the mochi-accented an paste yourself. Inside there's a fortune, and it's packaged using the traditional Japanese furoshiki cloth, making it look very Japanese. There are various designs of furoshiki to choose from. One box is 1080 yen.

4. Hello Kitty Goods [Sanrio Shop] 

This is a character goods shop that only sells items from Sanrio, the company that designed many popular characters including Hello Kitty. They have a huge variety of items featuring the internationally beloved Hello Kitty, including stuffed toys, stationery, and miscellaneous items. There are a lot of items that you can only buy in Japan. If there's a Sanrio fan in your life, you can find the perfect souvenir to make their day here.

5. Character Goods [Kiddyland] 

This is a toy store that gathers all sorts of goods featuring cute, famous characters. Of course you can find Rilakkuma and Hello Kitty here, but you can also find a huge lineup of items featuring other characters like Snoopy and Miffy. You'll be surprised by the number of cute goods available in Japan!

6. Ikari Super

Ikari Super is a high-end supermarket in the Kansai area where you can find their original pancake mix that is highly valued throughout the country. They say that if you try the delicately sweet and soft pancakes made with this mix you'll be addicted! It comes in a nice package as well, making it good as a souvenir. It's 432 yen.

7. Tenten

Tenten's bite-sized gyoza is a well-known souvenir that represents the Umeda area of Osaka. It was developed in the luxury drinking area Kitashinchi which is very close to Umeda. It's delicious whether it's fried, boiled, or pan-fried, and is extremely popular with people of all ages. It's raw so it might be difficult to bring home if you live overseas, but it's definitely something you want to try eating while you're here. A pack of 45 will run you 2130 yen.

8. Premium Cheese Tart [Pablo]

There is an abundance of cheesecake varieties in Japan, so you should definitely try some when you're here. In this shop, their most popular cheese tart is 800 yen, but it's of such high-quality that you wouldn't be able to tell that it costs so little. It's definitely something to try while you're in the area. Also, their Sabrel Cheese Matcha, a matcha-flavored cookie and cream cheese sandwich, is popular as well.

9. Kuromame Madeleine Eemonchi [Gokan] 

This is a popular product that's a standard Osaka souvenir. These madeleines use high-class, nutritious black beans for a perfect mellow sweetness. It's reasonably priced, at 650 yen for 6 pieces.

10. Traditional Items [Tanseido] 

This store offers a variety of traditional items like accessories, dolls, art, calligraphy sets, and more. You can also find sets for tea ceremony as well as Japanese-style art goods like uchiwa fans, paintings, and prints. Their prices vary from reasonable to expensive, so it's perfect for people of all budgets who want to get something authentically Japanese.

11. Tsujirihei

13. Milk Manjuu Tsukigeshou [Aoki Shofuan] 

This manjuu is filled with a paste that uses domestically-grown high-class white beans mixed with condensed milk and butter, then wrapped in mochi and baked until it's round and yellow like the moon. This is another standard souvenir from Osaka. A box of 6 pieces costs 800 yen.

14. Canele [Daniel] 

A canele is a French pastry that has been gaining popularity recently in Japan, and one of the best places to get it is Daniel. Daniel is originally a confectionery shop in Kobe, but there's also a store in Umeda's Lucua department store. Kobe, Osaka's neighbor city, was originally a trade port which means it's an area that has lots of influence from overseas and as a result has many Western confectionery shops. 15. Marushige's Kokyuu Chocolate 

Marushige is a chocolate maker from Osaka. Their Kokyuu Chocolate is made by wrapping a caramel-coated almond in tiramisu-flavored chocolate, making a deliciously crunchy snack. It comes in a wide variety of flavors, including matcha, coffee, soy kinako, and more. This is another very popular Osaka souvenir and it only costs 645 yen.

16. Happy Turns [Happy Turn] 

This is the luxury version of Kameda Seika's rice treat Happy Turns. The vividly-colored, high-class packaging and the abundance of flavors makes it a perfect gift. 17. Grand Calbee [Grand Calbee]

Calbee is one of Japan's most well-known potato chip manufacturers, and their Grand Calbee chips are the luxury versions of their usual. 18. Fukufukufu [Fukujudo Hidenobu]

This is an elegant and soft steamed cake developed by a well-established Osaka wagashi store. "Fuku" means "blessings," so they named it "Fukufukufu" with the wish that their customers will have so many blessings in their lives that it will pile up. If you give this to someone as a gift and tell them the meaning of the name, it'll surely make them happy! Fukufukufu comes in red bean flavor and matcha flavor and costs 160 yen for 1. There are also seasonal flavors: strawberry in the spring, mango in the summer, marron glace in the fall, and chocolate in the winter.
