1. Kitchen Nankai Minami-Ikebukuro Shop (キッチン南海南池袋店)
Kitchen Nankai offers Youshoku (洋食), western cuisine with Japanese interpretation. At lunchtime it serves a special dish of the day, which is rather hearty, at a very reasonable price. The picture is Katsu Curry (550 yen). Other dishes like Shoga Yaki (生姜焼き – grilled pork with ginger) are also good, so you can try different dish every day.

2. Shiki (四喜)
This popular oyster bar has appeared on television. Fresh native oysters are brought here from all over the nation. The set meal of deep fried oysters at lunch is just 600 yen. It comes with a bowl of rice, miso soup, side dishes and a drink. Now that’s quite a bargain.

3. Miura No Hambahgu (三浦のハンバーグ)
This restaurant is popular of its Hamburger Steak. It offers 150 gram hamburger from 480 yen. The lunch deal is a 120 gram hamburger steak with rice and miso soup for just 500 yen. There are 7 varieties of sauce to choose from so pick your favorite.

4. PIZZERIA BAR NAPOLI Ikebukuro Nishiguchi Shop (PIZZERIA BAR NAPOLI 池袋西口店)
This restaurant serves genuine Italian pizzas. Its lunchtime offer is 8 types of 25cm diameter pizza for just 500 yen each. Pizzas baked by authentic stone oven have wonderful aroma and taste awesome. You may want to turn up with a group of friends to share different types of pizza.

5. Sushi Tsubaki Ikebukuro Nishiguchi Shop（すし 椿 池袋西口店）
This sushi restaurant uses fresh seafood ingredients from Misaki in Ehime. The above picture of 8 assorted sushi set served at lunch is 500 yen. There’s also Sanshoku Don (三色丼), a rice bowl topped with 3 fresh catch of the day, which is also available at 500 yen during lunchtime. You can watch sushi chefs working skilfully behind the sushi counter.

6. Marutomi Shokudo Ikebukuro Higashiguchi Shop (丸富食堂 池袋東口店)
Marutomi Shokudo is run by a fishmonger, bringing in fresh seafood from Numazu in Shizuoka. The above picture is a 620 yen set meal of Aji Furai, deep fried horse mackerel (アジフライ定食). Freshly fried fish covered in crunchy breadcrumbs is simply delicious. There’s a sister restaurant Marutomi on the first floor of the building which is open 24/7 and offering this Aji Furai all day.

7. Komeda Coffee Ikebukuro Nishiguchi Shop (コメダ珈琲店 池袋西口店)
Komeda is a coffee shop chain from Nagoya known for offering large portioned sandwiches. This is a picture of Mixed Sandwiches (560 yen). They have a signature pastry called Shiro Noir (シロノワール) which is is perfect for an after meal dessert.

8. Karukaya (かるかや)
Located on the top floor of Seibu Department Store, Karukaya is a soba and udon eatery. Kamaage Udon(釜揚げうどん) in the picture is 410 yen. There are many other substantial dishes like Stamina Udon (スタミナうどん) and Tanuki Udon (たぬきうどん) for less than 500 yen. Enjoy al fresco noodle slurping experience!

9. Toumei Hanten Ikebukuro (東明飯店 池袋)
Toumei Hanten serves Taiwanese Chinese cuisine. The dish in the picture is Taiwan Don(台湾丼), a bowl of rice topped with minced pork (600 yen). There are also weekly lunch bowl for 600 yen. Lunch bowls come with soup and are value for money.

10. Iketako Ikebukuro 2-chome Shop (池たこ 池袋二丁目店)
Freshly cooked Takoyaki (たこ焼き) are served at Iketako. These scrumptious octopus balls using carefully selected ingredients taste as good as their counterparts in Osaka. The above pictured Akashiyaki (明石焼き – 500 yen) is the softer version with eggs. Only 10 dishes of Akashiyaki are on offer each day so you don’t want to miss it.

11. Pasta-ya Nishi-Ikebukuro Shop (葉ﾟす多家（ぱすたや） 西池袋店)
Pastaya serves pasta and doria (rice casserole). Noen Tomato Pasta (農園トマトパスタ ), pictured above, is 600 yen. The delectable pasta sauce is made of home grown tomatoes and has a wonderful balance of flavor. Meat Doria (ミートドリア) and Curry Doria (カレードリア) are both 500 yen. Each dish comes in generous portion.

12. Hakata Tenjin Ikebukuro Higashiguchi Shop (博多天神 池袋東口店)
Hakata Ramen, a staple of Kyushu region, is served at this ramen shop. The picture is Tonkotsu Ramen (豚骨ラーメン – 500 yen). If you feel you haven’t had enough after finishing your ramen, you can ask for an extra helping of noodle called Kaedama (替え玉) for free. Tenjin takes pride in the richness of its ramen – the proof of the pudding is in the eating.
