When talking about Japan, one thing that definitely comes to mind is sushi. Although there may be some people who might have struggle to appreciate raw fish, it is an exquisite taste you can’t find in any other country. In this article, we are going to introduce some delicious sushi restaurants in and around Tokyo Station and the Marunouchi area.

1. Imayoshi

Imayoshi is a long-standing restaurant that has been satisfying its customers with its traditional taste for 58 years. The current master is the 3rd generation master of the restaurant. Every morning, the owner makes his way to Tsukiji Market in search of ingredients. We recommend eating at the counter, but please not that the restaurant is closed on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

2. Otona Washoku Tokyo - Yaesu Store

This restaurant, which opened in March 2014, is a shrimp and sea urchin speciality restaurant. If sushi isn’t exactly your thing, they also offer their famous sea urchin shabu shabu, which we highly recommend.

3. Sushinoya Yaesu Restaurant

This popular restuarant has the rather unique concept combining sushi and izakaya, or Japanese-style bar. The pace of the restaurant and range of alcoholic drinks is like that of an izakaya, but you can also enjoy delicious fresh fish like in a sushi restaurant. It is a great restaurant for people who find it difficult to enter a regular sushi restaurant.

4. Sushi Aoyagi

Located on the second floor of the Tokyo Station Hotel, Sushi Aoyagi perfectly matches the high class atmosphere of Tokyo Station. The restaurant has a calm atmosphere where you can enjoy some delicious sushi in a quiet atmosphere away from the crowds passing through Marunouchi.

5. HAL YAMASHITA Otemachi lounge

A “great music and new Japanese cuisine” themed Japanese lounge. As well as some fantastic sushi, the restaurant offers a wide range of dishes to suit a variety of needs, including roast beef beef bowls, and the interior of the restaurant really adds to the atmosphere and flavor of the food.

6. Sushidokoro Jun Marunouchi Branch

Sushidokoro Jun is now in the 50th year since its foundation. The restaurant is in a great location, at just a 10 minute walk from Tokyo Station. The most popular dish is the kaisendon, or seafood bowl, of which only 20 are made a day. There probably isn’t anyone in the world who won’t be satisfied after eating it.

7. Jin

Originally a famous restaurant in Shimonoseki (Yamaguchi Prefecture) which moved to Tokyo. From the number of celebrities visiting the restaurant, you can tell that the sushi is good. Since the master moved to the capital from Shimonoseki, he has continued making sushi, so there has been no change in the taste. If you are looking to try some great regional sushi, we wholeheartedly recommend Jin.

8. Numazu Uogashi Sushi Tokyo Station Branch

Numazu Uogashi Sushi is a sushi restaurant that holds the competition rights at the Numazu Fish Market, meaning that it gets great fish. One of the best things about the restaurant is the large slice of fish, or dekaneta in Japanese, that are used in the sushi. Here you can enjoy some really dynamic sushi.

9. Suzutomi Daimaru Tokyo Branch

Suzutomi Daimaru Tokyo Branch isn’t a restaurant as such, but a shop that sells sushi. The fish is also fresh here as it is the directly managed store of the Suzutomi tuna wholesaler in Tsukiji. Why not visit the restaurant on your last day in Japan and enjoy the fish on the Narita Express?

10. Okei Sushi Yaesu Branch

A restaurant with a historic atmosphere. The fish is naturally fresh, and prepared by some master chefs. While it appears that they aren’t putting any effort into advertising, but thanks to its great taste and comfortable atmosphere, it is an incredibly popular restaurant.
