Looking for something to do this week in Japan? As we near the end of this long and especially hot summer and the temperature starts to drop down to a bearable level, it's the perfect time for a trip to a beer garden! From a beer garden in the mountains to one perched on top of a high-rise building in the center of the city, here are just three out of the multitude of beer gardens dotted across the capital. Beer gardens in Japan are only open for a limited time during the summer months, so don't hesitate to plan what might be your last beer garden visit of the year!

Mt. Takao Beer Mount

A beer garden on a mountain in Tokyo? Yes, it does exist!

Tokyo is not just a concrete jungle. It actually contains some beautiful natural scenery! Mt. Takao is a popular hiking spot for both locals and tourists, and between June 15 (Friday) - October 15 (Monday) in 2018, your hike can end with a drink at a beer garden, surrounded by lush greenery and a view of Tokyo in the distance. Don't worry if you're not a fan of hiking, as there is a cable car that will bring you right to the kegs!

With a buffet offering a wide range of dishes and beautiful views, this has to be the ultimate way to enjoy the last of the summer days in Tokyo!

Reservations are not required, but it can get busy at the weekend. Also, since it's on a mountain, it can get chilly up there, so make sure to pack a jacket! There are English speaking staff on site.

Sunshine Aquarium Sky Bar 2018

Beer, penguins, otters, seals... You can have it all at the Sunshine Aquarium Sky Bar! Take this opportunity to enjoy a unique experience brought to you by the popular Sunshine Aquarium, where you can enjoy a few drinks and nibbles while watching penguins, otters, seals, and other marine creatures on the roof of the aquarium.

There are exciting night-time performances on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, including dynamic fire shows, as well as various dance performances.

With a large selection of drinks, including aquarium-themed cocktails like the Sky Penguin Cocktail and the blue Ryuhyo Beer (Drift Ice Beer), as well as a selection of finger foods, a trip to the Sunshine Aquarium Sky Bar promises to be a memorable evening! Restaurant Luke 47F Beer Terrace

High-rise buildings are probably one of the things that comes to people's minds when they think of Tokyo. What if you could have a drink at the top of one of these tall buildings as you look down at the cityscape at night? Well, that's exactly what you can do at Restaurant Luke's Beer Terrace! Located on the 47F, this is a beer garden with the highest location in the city of Tokyo. Choose from either Tokyo Tower or Skytree view seats!

They have a nice selection of beers - from Japanese draft beer and imported bottled beer, to Kagua craft beer by Far Yeast Brewing Company - as well as a wide range of wines and cocktails. Their food menu is mainly comprised of modern Italian fare, and they have various meal plans for the Beer Terrace, including some with an all-you-can-drink-option.
